Cardiogenic Shock and Advanced Heart Failure Therapies

2020
Cardiogenic shock is a state of cellular hypoperfusion which is often associated with multisystem organ failure and high mortality rate. There are many etiologies of cardiogenic shock with acute coronary syndrome being the most common cause. Cornerstones of management of cardiogenic shock include initial hemodynamic resuscitation and stabilization, comprehensive work-up to identify the underlying cause, and initiate therapy to restore and maintain satisfactory tissue perfusion.
