Clutter polarization estimation based on an adaptive polarization filtering approach

2011
Estimation of the clutter polarization has key significance if we use virtual polarization filtering approach to suppress the clutter and matain the target at the time. This paper proposes a new algorithm to estimate the clutter polarization. In this paper adaptive variable step size Least Mean Square Error (LMS) recursive function is set up based on double polarization receiving signal model. By choosing desired response signal properly, the receiving data can be estimated by using the proposed approach. The result of the estimation is used for Null Phase-Shift Instantaneous Polarization Filter (NPSPF) design and the target's amplitude and phase compensation. Here the tracking performance of this adaptive polarization filtering approach is discussed detailedly. The simulation results accordding with the above analysis shows that clutter suppression is effective.
