Abstract 12571: Social Network Analysis Demonstrating Impact of Resuscitation Outcome Consortium (ROC) on Collaboration

Introduction: National Institute of Health (NIH) funded ROC to create an infrastructure that would support clinical resuscitation research and facilitate collaboration among investigators from numerous institutions. While collaborations are key elements of scientific productivity, few have formally quantified collaboration over time. Social Network Analysis (SNA ) is widely used in social and clinical science to quantify and illustrate network relationships.We sought to characterize collaboration and cohesion amongst ROC investigators using (SNA) techniques. Hypothesis: The number of collaborations between participating sites increased after the introduction of a clinical research consortium. Methods: Lists of publications were abstracted from PubMed for investigators listed as contributing authors on at least one ROC publication.
