Crystallization of polyethylene and mixtures with poly(vinyl acetate) and poly(ethylene glycol) in deformed solutions

2004
Phase transitions and the phase state of PE-PVA-p-xylene, PE-p-xylene, PVA-p-xylene, PE-PEG-p-xylene, and PE-PEG systems were studied by DTA, X-ray analysis, the cloud-point method, polarization microscopy, and viscometry under static conditions and in an applied shearing field. The action of the mechanical field leads to an increase in crystallization temperatures of PEG and PE in their ternary and binary systems and virtually does not affect a binodal with a UCST for the PVA-p-xylene system. The profiles of boundary curves were found to be changed during deformation. The dimensions of macromolecules in the deformed systems, orientational entropy, and interaction parameters of the components were estimated.
