Some medicolegal aspects of kidney shock consequent to illegal induced abortion

1972
: The aspects of kidney shock resulting from illegal abortions performed with empirical methods of interest to forensic and clinical medicine are discussed. The symptoms leading to the diagnosis of the problem and the diagnosis of its causes are described. The etiopathogenic role of the infections that accompany such cases is emphasized. In 35 cases of death from kidney shock due to such induced abortions, evidence was found of massive septic pyemia, affecting all the vital organs. The various types of pyemia are described, establishing the clinical, pathological, and morphological criteria to diagnose their cause. From the therapeutic viewpoint, immediate treatment of the infection is required, aiming 1st at the uterine septic focus.(Author's, modified)
