The invention discloses a real-time target image transmitting and tracking system which comprises a target image processing module, an image coding and compressing module, a camera, a follow-up holder and a remote computer. One end of the camera is connected with the target image processing module, the other end of the camera is connected with the follow-up holder, one end of the image coding and compressing module is connected with the target image processing module, and the other end of the image coding and compressing module is connected with the remote computer. The camera transmits acquired video information of a moving target to the target image processing module to identify and track target images, a command is simultaneously transmitted to the follow-up holder to control rotation of the camera to track the moving target, and target tracking images are transmitted to the remote computer via the image coding and compressing module at a high speed, so that the target tracking images can be displayed on the remote computer. The real-time target image transmitting and tracking system has the advantages that the moving target can be captured and tracked, and tracking video information can be transmitted via an Ethernet in real time.
