Photoelectric coupler and its production

PURPOSE: To provide a photoelectric coupling method and a device capable of attaining efficient and highly accurate matching. CONSTITUTION: This photoelectric coupler 100 includes a molded waveguide 101 having plural core areas 105 surrounded by cladding areas 103. The cross sections of the core areas 105 are exposed to an aperture 113 on one end of the waveguide 101. When an optical cable 102 having plural optical fibers 107 to 109 including core areas 123 to 125 is inserted into the aperture 113, the core areas 123 to 125 of the fibers 107 to 109 are matched with the exposed cross sections 122 of the core areas of the device 100.
