Effect of season on pre-weaning mortality in lambs of Deccani and its crosses

1999
The data were recorded in 1786 Deccani, 1027 Dorset halfbreds, 672 interbreds of Dorset halfbred and 660 Merino halfbreds lambs produced over a period of thirteen years (1978–1990) at All India Coordinated Research Project on Sheep Breeding (Mutton), Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, (Maharashtra). The incidence of mortality was studied in relation to season of birth. The significance of this factor under study was tested by chi-square test. Maximum pre-weaning mortality occurred among the lambs born during summer season and minimum in winter season.
