89Background: In 2006, Tahoe Forest Hospital District—a 25-bed hospital in Truckee, CA, a mountain resort community one hour from regional and two hours from academic cancer services—designed and implemented an oncology program utilizing effective telecommunications with a committed academic partner, the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento. Methods: The UC Davis Cancer Care Network was established with four remote cancer programs, enabling participation in daily virtual tumor boards, clinical trial enrollment, and quality assurance assistance.
