Oxygen Permeability Measurements: Methodology Effects on Commercial LLDPE Film

This paper investigates the effects of several parameters on the permeability measurement of LLDPE film used to package food. Measure ments were obtained using an OX-TRAN** 10/50 oxygen permeation instru ment. Permeability was higher in older film, increased with temperature and decreased under particular conditions with repeated testing. These results con firmed that careful procedures and sampling control are required to obtain reliable results and to optimize experimental effort.
