Measurement of Ulnar and Radial Bone Mineral Density Using a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)

1992
Double energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) is one of the successfull methods for determinating the bone mineral contents.Bone mineral density (BMD) of eighty eight volunteers (forty-one cases were male and forty-seven cases were female) were measured by the DEXA method. QDR-1000 (Hologic co.) were used in measuring the ulnar and radial BMD.The following results were obtained.1) In the female, the ulnar and radial BMD severely decreased after post menopause. This pattern was similar to the results of the vertebral bone mineral contents.2) Measuring the ulnar and radial BMD by the DEXA method enabled us to evaluate osteoporosis.
