Colonies productivity of Polistes (Aphanilopterus) versicolor Olivier, 1791 (Hymenoptera: Vespidae, Polistinae ) . From August 2000 to Dece mber 2003, 185 colonies of Polistes versicolor were observed at the Bioterio of the Instituto de Biociencias, UNESP, Ca mpus de Rio Claro, SP. In 14 4 colonies (7 7,8 4%) didn't eme rge wasps, a nd of othe rs 41 (2 2,16%), in 16 it was not possible to obtain the numbe r of me conia, be cause they we re atta cke d in se ve ra l degre es of injury by natura l e ne mies such a s, ants, birds and parasitic wasps. The colonies productivity was me asure d through the meconia count in the cells of 25 colonies, which ra nged from 1 to 6 meconia by ce ll.
