Effect of coordination environment on the magnetic relaxation of mononuclear Dy III field-induced single molecule magnets
2017
Abstract Two mononuclear Dy III complexes [Dy(H 2 TEG)(NO 3 ) 3 ]·[18-crown-6] (H 2 TEG = triethylene glycol) (1) and [Dy(H 2 TEG)Cl 3 ]·[18-crown-6] (2) have been prepared using H 2 TEG as ligands. Magnetic studies revealed that both complexes show field-induced double magnetic relaxation behavior with energy barriers of 28 K and 54 K. Distinct magnetic dynamic properties observed in 1 and 2 are mostly attributed to the dissimilar coordination environments around Dy III centers in these two complexes.
