Observation of the orbiting backward peak in the differential cross section for Na(2P)-Hg collisions
1979
Abstract A typical feature of collisions governed by attractive and repulsive forces is the orbiting phenomenon. Most clearly these collisions are visible as a backward peak in the differential cross section. In this work we report the first observation of this backward peak in the interaction of neutral atoms, specifically for Na( 2P interacting with Hg.
