Abstract Amirghofran, A.A., Rayatpisheh, Sh., Tanideh, N., Owji, A.A., Vasei, A. and Mehrabani, D. 2005. Ealuation of different formulations of biological surgical adhesives on hemorrhagic aorta: An in vitro and animal study. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 28: 121–124. This in vitro and animal model study was performed to find a safe, effective, inexpensive and easy-to-use surgical glue on hemorrhagic aorta. Bioglue was prepared using glutaraldehyde (10 or 50%) and human serum albumin (20 or 45%). Bovine aorta (3.5 cm dia, 4–6 mm wall thickness was cut to strips and joined end-to-end with Gelatin Resorcin Formaldehyde (GRF) or bioglue. All combinations of glutaraldehyde and albumin produced bioglue with satisfactory shear and tensile strength, which were better than GRF. A needle hole was created in ventral abdominal aorta of 9 (6 treatment, 3 control) crossbred dogs and then the glues were applied to prevent the oozing of blood. After 6 weeks, the animals were sacrificed for histopathological study of puncture sit...
