Antibacterial secondary metabolites from the endophytic fungus Eutypella scoparia SCBG-8

2021
Abstract Ten compounds, including three new ones, eutyscoparols H-J (1, 2 and 5), together with seven related known ones (3, 4 and 6–10), were isolated from the endophytic fungus Eutypella scoparia SCBG-8. Their chemical structures as well as absolute configurations were established by interpretation of the NMR spectroscopic data and X-ray diffraction. Among them, eutyscoparol J possesses a rarely occurring complex 6/6/6/6/6/6/6 fused ring system. Moreover, the cytotoxic and antibacterial assays suggested that compounds 1–4 could serve as promising leads for further antimicrobial drug development, with potent antibacterial activity (MIC values 1.25–6.25 μg/mL towards MRSA) and weak cytotoxicity. 2009 Elsevier Ltd.
