Prevalencia de úlceras por presión y factores asociados a su desarrollo en Acapulco Gro: estudio transversal

Objective: To determine the prevalence of pressure ulcers and to identify associated factors for development in hospitalized patients in the Regional General Hospital No1. “Vicente Guerrero in Acapulco Gro, Mexico. Methods: Observational, analytic cross-sectional study conducted with 256 patients in various hospital departments, demographic and clinical variables were measured, calculating absolute and relative frequencies, Odds Ratio for measuring factor / event relation, and multivariate logistic regression analysis for control confounder. Results: The prevalence of pressure ulcers was 26.95%, the most frequent stage I (55.1%). Factors associated with the development of pressure ulcers included age, length of stay, service internal medicine and diabetes mellitus II. Conclusions: The findings of prevalence are alarming compared to the national report (20.07 %), it is needed an urgent intervention of nurse management, to solve the risks and problems associated with pressure ulcers appearance.
