CONCRETE BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. IN: BRIDGE ENGINEERING: CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE

The focus of this paper is on the principles and practices related to construction of conrete bridges in which construction engineering contributes greatly to the successful completion of the projects. The fundamentals of construction engineering are first presented, followed by an analysis of the challenges and obstacles involved in such processes. Problems related to design, construction practices, project planning, scheduling and control are then introduced. Future improvements in construction engineering are suggested, and some details on prestressed concrete, high performance concrete as well as falsework are provided.
