A prosthetic stented aortic homograft for mitral valve replacement

1966
Summary A technique is described for the construction of a combined aortic homograft and prosthetic support for replacement of the mitral valve. This stented homograft is easy to insert in the mitral position and should climinate contraction scarring with resulting stenosis through the precise removal of all rapidly rejecting tissues at the base of the homografts. Other advantages of this supported homograft are described, as is the technique of procurement, construction, and insertion. A follow-up report of the fate of these grafts in surviving animals is planned.
