The Jet Behaviour of an Actual High-Bypass Engine as Determined by LDA-Measurements in Ground Tests

1991
The present contribution describes the measurements of a three-component LDA within the jet of a bypass engine CFM56-5 installed on an A320, in the form of ground tests. The aerodynamic data obtained at the fan exit and in tweo sections at the turbine nozzle exit near cruise condition allow an insight into the complete jet behaviour. The velocity components in the specified position for all three coordinate directions are discussed allowing the evaluationof the radial velocity distribution and the swirl components. In addition, the important paramters of the turbulence intensity and the direction of the thrust vector are considered.
