Reference samples belong to key elements of the system of drug standardization. In pharmacopoeial analysis established in the Russian Federation and many other countries, the use of reference samples is the subject of terms determined by normative documentation and pharmacopoeial monographs. There are various classifications of pharmacopoeial reference samples and, depending on their purpose, the corresponding certification programs.
