Meal timing, Sleep and Cardiometabolic Outcomes

2021
Abstract Circadian misalignment is commonly experienced by shift workers due to night-time wake, day-time sleep, and eating around the clock. These changes to sleep and eating patterns away from traditional timings can causes metabolic disturbances and have been associated with elevated cardiometabolic disease risk in shift workers. This review summarises and discusses the recent evidence linking meal timing, sleep and metabolic challenges with a focus on the impact of fasting/feeding length and frequency of consumption.
