The effects of Poly I: C on the rabbit conjunctival fibroblast after trabeculectomy

2010
Objective To investigate the effects of polyinosinic-polycytidylic (Poly I :C) on the rabbit conjfinctival fibroblast after trabeculeetomy. Methods 10 New Zealand rabbits (20 eyes) were divided into Poly I: C group and normal saline groups. All rabbits' eyes received traubeculectomy. The Poly I:C group eyes received Poly I:C sub-conjunetival injection after trabeeulectomy and the normal saline group eyes received normal saline subconjunctival injection after trabeculectomy. All eyes received IOP measurement and slit lamp microscopy examination 3,5,10,15 days after surgery. Pathological section of all eyes underwent histological examination 5, 7, 10, 15 days after surgery. Results All bubbles in normal saline group eyes were failure 7 days after operation and that in Poly I:C group eyes were failure 14 days after operation. The ratio of blockage filtration path in Poly I: C group eyes was 40% after 7-14 days and that in the normal saline group was 100%. Conclusion Application of Poly I:C after trabeculectomy in rabbit eyes can inhibited fibroblast proliferation and improved achievement ratio of trabeculectomy. Key words: polyinosinic-polycytidylic ;  glaucoma;  trabeculectomy
