Analysis on Segregation in Ingot for Wire Rods of 40Cr Cold Forged Steel

2015
By means of linear scanning for compositions, hardness measurement, metallograph-ic examination, the causes leading to the segregation of an ingot for wire rods of 40Cr cold forged steel produced by Ansteel are analyzed. The results by linear scanning show that the elements such as Mn, Si, P, S and Cr are in homogeneous distribution in wire rods, but the element of C is not. The hardness value of the ingot for steel wire rods is highest with more pearlite and enriched C. The experimental results show that the segregation in ingot for wire rods is mainly caused by the uneven distribution of C.
