Grignard Reagent Mediated Demetallation of Silver Corrole Complexes

Abstract: In order to study the reactivity of various Grignard reagents with differently substituted A3− and trans-A2B-corrolato Ag (III) complexes, we have performed a series of reactions. We have observed that among the various Grignard reagents studied, methyl magnesium chloride is the most potent one and resulted in the quantitative demetalation of the corrolato Ag (III) complexes and produces the respective free base corroles exclusively. As expected, in either case, we have not observed the formation of any unusual -methyl/phenyl derivative.
