The invention relates to a microwave transmission system based on a compression algorithm and a microwave transmission method. According to the microwave transmission system based on the compression algorithm and the microwave transmission method, a compressing module and an uncompressing module are placed in an indoor unit (IDU) for processing, on a down link, a near-end IDU is used for carrying out common public radio interface (CPRI) protocol frame decoding on data transmitted through optical fibers, wave carrying data which are analyzed are compressed and then microwave link data framing is carried out, then the data are sent to a microwave link through a near-end output display unit (ODU), a far-end IDU is used for carrying out microwave data frame decoding on the data received by a far-end ODU, CPRI protocol framing is carried out after the wave carrying data which are analyzed are uncompressed, data framed is transmitted to a far-end computer through optical fibers, and then a downlink broadcasting function is achieved. According to the microwave transmission system based on the compression algorithm, transmission capacity of microwave data is improved, areas that can not be covered by a digital optical fiber repeater is compensated, and market requirements for large volume data traffic are met. The microwave transmission system based on the compression algorithm and the microwave transmission method have the advantages of being low in cost, small in risk, fast, and capable of guaranteeing normal communication of the whole microwave transmission system.
