An Experimental Study on Creep Behavior of PBX using Moire Interferometry

2005
Creep behavior of PBX material, which is a polymer matrix composite filled with large number of solid particles,is studied using moireinterferometry combined with diametric disc test in this paper.Extensive creep deformation and creep recovery curve of PBX material are indirectly measured by the aid of compressive circular disk test.Compressive creep deformation and creep recovery curve of PBX material are also gained at the same time during the compressive circular disk test. The results show a different creep process compared with pure poly materials. The creep repeating increase stage of PBX material is observed, which is quite different from the typical creep curve of a pure high polymer. Moreover, this phenomenon is analyzed preliminary from damage mechanics. The experimental data obtained in this paper could offer the experimental basis on the theoretical analysis of the creep-damage of PBX material
