The work aims to discuss the importance of traditional knowledge peasant in building an agroecologicaltransition, seeking to reflect on the experiences in Mount Zion community in Sao Domingosdo Capim in the State of Para. Therefore, it was used as a method to literature throughthe lifting of the theoretical framework on peasant agriculture, agroecology and traditional knowledge,and field research conducted in a ecologically-based agriculture space, being used astools, cross walk, informal conversation and direct observation. From the dialogue with authorsand field experience, it was possible to understand that the traditional knowledge of farmers arecritical to the understanding of their practices and beliefs, and that the farmer’s wisdom bringsknowledge of nature, practical components and spiritual. This peasant dynamics is critical to theconstruction of a new conception of agriculture focused on agroecological principles.
