How to Make Right Decisions Based on Corrupt Information and Poor Counselors Tuning an Open-Source Question Answering System

This paper describes our efforts to tune the open-source question answering system OpenEphyra and to adapt it to interface with multiple available search engines (Bing, Google, and Ixquick). We also evaluate the effect of using outdated test data to measure performance of question answering systems. As a practical use case, we implemented OpenEphyra as an integral component of the open-source spoken dialog system Halef.
