Detection of supernova neutrinos via coherent $ν$-nucleus scattering

2016
We consider the possible detection of Supernova neutrinos via Coherent ν- Nucleus Scattering in a scintillation detector. The envisaged applications include the separate determination of the energy and temperature of the neutrinos and antineutrinos of the second and third family by exploiting the spectral information encoded in the recoiling nuclei and inherited from the impinging neutrinos. Our results suggest that despite a significant quenching factor and a high detector threshold, determination of one of the neutrino observables is achievable for a wide range of the parameter space.
