Computation and experimental investigation of the fatigue strength of a material in the plane stress state with allowance for stress concentration

A computational-experimental method of determining the longevity of structural components with stress risers, which is based on the finite-element analysis of the stress-strain state under a variable load, is proposed. The longevity is determined using the δ-model. Fatigue curves for smooth specimens with different coefficients of load-cycle asymmetry and the results of tests of smooth specimens with holes are used as experimental data. The results of the computation are compared with data on the cyclic failure of plates with holes.
