The Sulfur Absorption and Spatio Temporal Distributing in High Yield Summer Ma ize

2000
Sulfur (S) percentage concentration varied from high at early growth stage to lo w at late growth stage. S mainly existed in leaves, stems and sheaths before flo wering and then in grain. Two high peaks of absorbed S amount were in periods fr om the jointing to male tetrad and from the anthesis to maturity, their accumula tion was 26.18% and 25.14% of total S. S absorption rate maximized up to 0.439 k g ·ha -1 ·day -1 from Jointing to male tetrad and maintained 0.184 kg·ha -1 ·day -1 after anthesis. S amount which was needed for th e formation of 100 kg grain was 0.168 kg, where 26.19% of S was translocated fro m other organs, especially from leaves. The middle and upper leaves contained mor e S and contributed less for the translocation of S to grain, but low leaves wer e opposed to them.
