A simulation and experimental study on primary cooler for COG heat pump

2019
Abstract In this paper, a new type of integrated primary cooler that uses the low-temperature residual heat of coke oven gas to drive a lithium bromide absorption heat pump to cool the gas is proposed, and it can replace an evaporative cooler. The effect of the key parameters of the absorption heat pump, including refrigerant evaporation pressure, refrigerant concentration, refrigerant circulation, and low-temperature water evaporation pressure, on the efficiency of the primary cooler were studied with Aspen. Based on the optimization of the operation parameters, a verification experiment was carried out. The total average error from all the data was 5.76%, which indicates that the experimental and simulation results are in good agreement, and the heat pump primary cooling apparatus has prospects for broad application.
