Un caso di leishmaniosi viscerale in paziente splenectomizzato: le difficoltà di un adeguato percorso clinico strumentale
2009
Leishmaniasis is a parasitosis that is endemic in many countries, characterized by a great variability of clinical manifestations. Infection can be divided into cutaneous (“old world picture”), mucocutaneous, or visceral disease (also known as Kala-azar). Campania is the italian region where the mayor incidence of Leishmaniasis (60-90 cases per epidemiologic year) is observed. Here we report the case that of a 49 year-old man who presented with fever, weight loss and weakness. This case underscores the complexity of a correct management of the disease and the importance of a thorough clinical history, particularly when the patient refers just aspecific symptoms.
