156 Mbit/s preamplifier IC with wide dynamic range for ATM-PON application

A 156 Mbit/s preamplifier IC has been fabricated for ATM-PON application with a new current-bypass circuit. A wide dynamic range of >36 dB and small duty deviation at the large input signal was obtained with this preamplifier. The maximum output signal amplitude was reduced to <350 mV/sub pp/. This reduction is helpful in designing a main amplifier with low supply voltage and dissipation power.
