Derivation of combination for slip gauge: A mathematical approach

Abstract This paper proposes a method for determining the number of slip gauges required from a box of 112 slip gauge of Grade O. The new method which helps to counter the conventional method in terms of accuracy and precision for measurement was explained. Attention to details were marked with new combination pattern that it adheres the metrology lab rules and standards for a gauge block and saves its utilization time for measurement. Each observation of proposed method allows the utilization of one less slip gauge compared to conventional method for each range of measurements which are under 30 mm and between 30 and 50 mm.
