Inversion Methods for the Generation of Ultrasonic Wave Profiles
1984
A general method for calculating the excitation voltage required to generate a specific pressure profile from an efficient thickness-mode piezoelectric transmitter is presented. The technique utilises both Laplace and z-domain transforms to facilitate non-spectral inversion of the system transfer function. It has been applied to a number of practical transmitter c onfigurations and is suitable for both wide and narrowband cases. inversion strategies and the method is shown to possess considerable advantages for optimising transducer response. Physical restrictions, relating to the system stability are also considered with respect to the causality and convergence of the c alculated input voltage. selection of theoretical and experimental results are presented and their close agreement serves to validate the technique.
