Large-Capacity And High Performance NAND Flash-based Image Recorder System

2012
This paper presents a new image recorder system architecture. To solve the problem that traditional invalid block management in software form decreases write/read/erase speed, proposed architecture only stores invalid block information table in FRAM, then generates the physical block addresses dynamically by address generator with 0 clock period delay, instead of storing invalid block mapping table fully in NAND flash. Scheme proposed by this paper is implemented in hardware form and can solve burst invalid block problem avoiding decreasing write/erase speed as well as enhance the system reliability. Experiment results based on hardware platform show that the recorder system can store the image data under the bandwidth 852.6MB/s, and download the data with bandwidth 1268.4MB/s. Moreover, the invalid block management can achieve real-time processing.
