After long and comprehensive planning and constructional procedures, the Universitats- und Landesbibliothek Dusseldorf (ULBD) finally has successfully opened its new departmental Law Library. Looked upon retrospectively, the process of construction and the new organization of the library represent and reflect the continuously improved relation between 15 years of changes in teaching and researching Law Studies and of providing academic literature and information for Law students and researchers. The various aspects, phases and difficulties of this process will be described and explained distinguishing between changes within the organisation of the library (Chap. 2) and the completion of a new library building (Chap. 3).
