Teaching programming with Grace at Portland state

The Grace programming language has been a work-in-progress since 2010, when a group of educators who were also programming language researchers committed to designing a new object-oriented programming language targeted at teaching. The design of Grace is largely complete, and has been described elsewhere; implementation is sufficiently advanced for Grace to have been used for teaching ten classes - mostly of novices. This article offers an impression of how Grace works in the classroom.
