One-dimensional photonic crystal transparent wall with wide-angle and polsarization-insensitive for 5 G signal transmission

2021
Abstract In this paper, two wide-angle, polarization-insensitive one-dimensional photonic crystal transparent walls were proposed for 5 G signal transmission. Based on the impedance matching principle, the impedance difference between the wall and air were studied. The effect of photonic crystal parameters (permittivity, unit cell number, filling rate and lattice constant) on microwave transmittance was analyzed. Two photonic crystal transparent walls were designed. The results showed that their average microwave transmittance was greater than 98.51% and 96.81% in the range of 0-60° at 3.3-3.6 GHz, respectively. Moreover, the polarization difference between TE mode and TM mode was only 1.19% and 2.87%. The designed photonic crystal transparent wall was polarization-insensitive to 5 G frequency band in a wide angle range, which had potential application value in building wall design and interior decoration.
