Planning-support for multi-product plants through recipe-driven material flow simulation

This paper is concerned with the planning of production and the reengineering of multi-product plants motivated by new market conditions. As a supportive tool for this task the recipe-driven material flow simulation is looked at. In particular, three different planning problems are described, followed by generalizations on production systems and types of problems. Finally, we describe the currently used proceeding of problemsolving and identify necessary future developments of recipe-driven material flow simulation systems.
