The Distribution of Artistic Human Capital – A Typology Building Approach

2018
Artists have long been understood to play a vital role in local communities. Our intent is to develop a deeper understanding of the distribution of artistic human capital; specifically, the extent to which particular patterns of co-location exist across Australia. We find little evidence of patterns by type of artistic human capital. Interestingly, however, our analysis does reveal a form of grouping that enables us to prescribe a typology based on the degree to which the number of types of artistic human capital resides. Using this typology we explore differences among states and regions across Australia.
