Analysis of misdiagnosis of the lung space-occupying lesion by ~(18)F-FDG PET/CT

2012
Objective To explore the cause of the misdiagnosis of the lung space-occupying lesion examined by 18F-FDG PET/CT in order to improve the knowing of the false positive and false negative rate by 18F-FDG PET/CT in the diagnosis and reduce the misdiagnosis rate. Methods 924 patients of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region People's Hospital from 2005 to 2010,who had lung space-occupying lesion examined by 18F-FDG PET/CT were analyzed.28 patients of them found by histology or pathology examination were misdiagnosed cases. Results 6 patients of them were misdiagnosed as false negative by 18F-FDG PET/CT,which were diagnosed as malignant tumor by the biopsy pathology;and 22 patients of them were misdiagnosed as false positive by 18F-FDG PET/CT,which were diagnosed as benign lesions by pathologic or bacteriologic examination, and in the follow-up period they were confirmed. Conclusion 18 F-FDG PET/CT examination is popular, but clinical false positive and false negative rate also gradually are known. If tumor marker of blood examination and detailed analysis of characteristics of history of cases are allied, the misdiagnosis rate would be reduced.
