Finite Element Analysis of Acoustic Streaming in a Kundt Tube with Artificial Ridge Boundary

2018
Acoustic streaming near artificially prescribed ridges is simulated and discussed to understand the mechanism of Kundt tube powder-ridge generation. A viscoacoustic harmonic finite element analysis (FEA)and a static-fluid FEA are coupled using an acoustic streaming driving force to derive acoustic streaming. The half-wavelength mode is excited in an acoustic tube where the calculation mesh is partially distorted to form an artificial ridge stick wall. Parametric study on the acoustic streaming dependence about the driving frequency, the viscosity, the ridge heights and intervals produces an regression formula about the optimal ridge interval. This formula shows agreement on ridge interval in the various literature.
