CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING THE SAFETY FACTORS INTRODUCED IN THE STABILITY CALCULATIONS OF SLOPES. DE MELLO VOLUME; A TRIBUTE TO PROFESSOR DR. VICTOR F. B. DE MELLO IN HONOR OF HIS CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING IN LATIN AMERICA

1991
In this paper, the safety factors introduced in the stability calculations of slopes is discussed. An examination is made of the physical measuring of the safety factors applied on the shearing resistance parameters irrespective of whether they are total or partial. Data derived utilizing the case of an unique homogeneous and isotropic soil layer forms the basis of the study. For the covering abstract of this book see IRRD 836508. (TRRL)
