A Dynamic Mechanical Loading Instrument for Cells

Biological tissues and cells are subjected to various mechanical loads in biological bodies, and mechanobiology research is becoming a research hotspot. In this paper, a bioreactor for dynamic loading of cell culture is developed. At present, the reactor used for axial loading mostly adopts the lead screw drive, which converts the rotation of motor into axial movement. However, this structure has disadvantages such as easy wear, poor dynamic performance and complex structure. In this paper, the linear motor is chosen as the power source, and the stator and actuator are driven by electromagnetic. The maximum speed can reach 12m/s, and the round trip frequency is high. If the strain amplitude is 2mm, frequency can reach 17.8Hz. Meanwhile, the structure of the bioreactor is exquisite and easy to use, and the cell growth can be observed under the microscope. The test results showed that the device had the advantages of good dynamic performance, precise positioning, compact structure and so on.
