define its extent; it is estimated as being c. 100 x 200 m large. It is only slightly elevated above its immediate surroundings. In the past, potsherds of the Iron Age, Persian, Hellenistic and Roman periods were collected here.1 In July 1987, the short salvage excavation reported here took place, conducted by A. Siegelmann on behalf of the Israel Department of Antiquities; it was conducted approximately at the center of the site, to bedrock. It revealed remains of the Late Bronze Age and Persian period only.2
