1991
Specimens of a piscivorous otter discovered in lower Pliocene sediments of the Lake Albert Basin (Uganda) are referred to a new taxon: Torolutra ougandensis (Carnivora, Mustelidae). This new lineage is attested in the Usno Formation (Omo basin, Ethiopia) and possibly in the Wadi Natrun Fauna (Egypt). Moreover a large non fish-eating otter is also recorded from the Lake Albert Basin
