Effect of orthodontic uprighting and edgewise technique on impacted anterior maxillary teeth
2011
Objective: To explore the effect of orthodontic uprighting and edgewise technique on impacted anterior maxillary teeth. Methods: A total of 57 cases with impacted anterior maxillary teeth, who were admitted from Dec 2009 to Dec 2010 were selected as treatment group, and were treated by edgewise technique and orthodontic uprighting,Another 54 cases with impacted anterior maxillary teeth served as control group, and were treated with removable appliance.General clinical data of two groups were similar, without significant difference(P0.05).Results: All patients were corrected in treatment group. The degree of anterior overjet was Ⅰ°.The cuspis and crypt of anterior teeth were interlaced with each other. The upper and lower dental arch were not crowded nor of interspace.Dental alveoli were lined up in order. The tracted teeth were not loosened, and no dental root resorption occurred. All patients showed healthy periodontal tissues, and stable efficacy. The treatment period was significantly shorter in treatment group(P0.05).Conclusions: Orthodontic uprighting and edgewise technique is effective on impacted anterior maxillary teeth.
